News for the DRIVELINE 100 and the PowerHouse 50 June 26, 2008

From: Craig VanEnkevort, Union Station Motorsports

As we are closing in on the green flag action this weekend at the Norway Speedway for the first time running of a pay-per-lap and lead-the-lap money event, I want to pass along these words.

All things in this world start with a dream or an idea, this event is just that for Gene Coleman. His concept of paying across the field for a racer to race with what means have been brought to them is his core path in terms of this event. For the last year he has advised me on this format from the stage of a dream to design and now to deployment. I ask all who may come in contact with Gene Coleman to make that simple thank you or perhaps just two thumbs-up and a nod of the head for his commitment to American grass root asphalt racing and these two races, the DRIVELINE 100 and the PowerHouse 50.

When this planned event first came up to discussion, Mike Bellisle was totally hooked up with it and therefore has committed a generous amount of resources. The Bellisles family, owners of North Honda Motorsports in Menominee, will also be the supplier for our double podium award presentation program. However, Mike Bellisle will not be able to attend this event. So whether you are a racer or a fan of racing, please find a way to show Mike and North Honda Motorsports your gratitude and appreciation.

The spitfire for this event is someone all racers have heard of. This man has energy of 10 and more connections in the race industry than imaginable. For me, many lessons have been taught and hope to never to be forgotten on views of this event thru the eyes of Fran Prestay. As owner of Five Star Stock Car Bodies, he has many experiences in the world of racing. The value Fran Prestay has, for the deployment of this event, is “huge” – this word says it all. He also needs to be thanked for making these two races a showcased motorsports event.

As spokesperson and advisor for the design of this race event, Bob Menor has been a pillar to lean on and in many cases I have over burdened him. Bob has in his heart a lifetime of commitment to grass root racing. With the journey of design to the waving of the green flag in this first ever pay-per-lap event, he needs to be recognized and thanked for all his time and advisory work.

From my perspective, I see so many people working hard with their god-given skills, filling open operational gaps in this first ever event. I truly know there are many people working hard to keep American grass root asphalt racing alive in our area and places across this beautiful land we call America…our HOME! My heart and mind pours out a thought of thanks for ALL our young and old American Veterans, especially for those fighting for our freedom around the world. We enjoy the sport of racing under the flag of stars and stripes, this flag is our freedom, so I ask from all of us at this event; for the national anthem…ALL attendees in the pits please line up in behind our race cars, remove our hats, place hearts, minds and eyes on the raising of the flag and think about what she means to ALL of US.

Thank you,
Craig VanEnkevort

Drive Line 100 Norway Mi. 6/29/08
Local racing heroes and favorites Jamie Iverson and Kris Kelly are going to run for the big bucks that the Drive Line 100 has put up for purse money. The feature event alone could have a pay off of over $18,000 cash and prizes. Kris Kelly stated “It is an honor to race in this race, put on by racing greats who have helped out so many of us little guys along the way. We use Coleman parts when ever we can not only because he is close by but they make some real great parts. Five Star race bodies are the short track industry standard and used by most people in the area. Fran and his partner Carl worked on making the ABC body rules used in most of short track asphalt racing today.” Jamie said “I have to thank Gene, Fran and the rest of the group for putting this event together. To have a big event like this in my own back yard, my home track, at Norway is just super. Thank you to Coleman Racing Products and Five Star for all your help over the years.”

6/18/08 Drive Line 100 PRESS RELEASE
Drive Line 100 June 28 Norway Speedway 4:30 pm

Racing Greats Gene Coleman and Fran Prestay along with Mike Bellisle and Craig Vanenkevort have put together a very unique race for the fans and drivers alike. The 100 lap super late model feature will have cars from 3 or more states. The race will be one of the first run under this new format as all drivers will get paid the same for every lap they race other than the leader will get bonus money. The drivers will each get paid 7.50 per lap. The drivers are very high on this new format and think it is neat as to have them all have a chance to get at least $750.00 for running all 100 laps. But the big thing is the winner will be the 1st Drive Line 100 Feature Winner and his name will go down in history.

Mr. Coleman and Mr. Prestay are both in the racing industry and this is a way to pay back the support the drivers have given to them over the years. Mr. Coleman’s Coleman Racing Products is one of the largest racing parts suppliers in the USA. Mr. Prestay’s Five Star Racing Bodies is the largest racing body producer in the USA. They have been working on this idea for over some time and have made the commitment to do it and at Norway Speedway.

Norway Speedway VP Bob Menor said he is very happy to have this huge event at Norway. Bob states “this will be a great event for our speedway and our local drivers and racers from other tracks not also to forget what it will do for the local economy here in the great U.P. of Michigan. Norway speedway is very much behind this event and hope it will be a big success and will be run every year from now on. It has taken a year of planning and now it is ready to happen said Menor.

The other big thing will be the 50 lap Power House 50 by North Honda Motorsports for the people that do not qualify into the main event. Mike Bellisle says this will help him get some product awareness and help him support his favorite sport auto racing. Mike has been a sponsor of Norway Speedway for years and continues his support threw this event.

Craig Vanenkevort has been a race car fan for years and his Wendricks Truss Co. has sponsored cars at Norway for years. Craig is the PR guy for this event with his company Union Station Motorsports as the name behind the promotions of this event.

Mark your calendars for the June 28th event and be there to get your favorite seat at 4:30 Saturday. Open practice will be on Friday from 4 to 8 pm. Tickets for this event are only 10.00 on the day of the show.

More to follow Thank you and see you there!
