Norway Speedway 2010 Fab Four Cylinder Rules

 

1. General
This class of car has been developed to permit those desiring to try stock car racing to do at an absolute minimum cost. This is a production division, unless specifically listed below as an allowable modification; you may not change or modify the car or parts in ANY WAY.

2. Age
a. If you are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and have your birth certificate, your required AGE is 14 years old.

3. Claims

a. This is a claimer class. The claim will include the entire car with the exception of race harness, race seat, aftermarket tank, window nets, and fire extinguisher, if equipped with these items.
b. The claim amount is $1000 by the D.C.R.A. The concept of claim rules is to prohibit “Buying” of wins and High $$ Dollar cars, this intent will be enforced.

4. Car Eligibility
a. 1966 and newer front wheel drive, three or four cylinder, non turbo charged, no double over head cams, passenger cars or station wagons.
b. Maximum wheelbase is 104 inches with the exception of station wagons.
c. All cars are subject to tech approval.
d. MINI – VANS LEGAL.

5. Body – General
a. Required
1. Any good muffler, steering and suspension – REQUIRED! Stock only absolutely no modifications.
2. Cooling system – REQUIRED! Any stock radiator allowed which will fit in stock brackets. 180 degree fan shroud required. An overflow container mounted in engine compartment. Water only in radiator. You will not be allowed to race if antifreeze is found in your car. DO NOT DUMP ANTIFREEZE ON GROUND AT TRACK If found dumping 2 week suspension will be enforced.
3. Fuel tanks – REQUIRED! Cars without the fuel pump mounted in the tank must use a cell or marine type tank mounted in the trunk floor with a minimum of two, 1 inch by 1/16 straps in each direction, bolted through the floor using double plates or installed in a safely constructed the frame rails. If using fuel cell must have it covered in a way that it separates the driver’s compartment from fuel cell. No bottom draw tanks. Maximum size 5 gallons. (Cell required on wagons) Car equipped with electric fuel pumps must install a toggle type switch, clearly marked at the base of the drivers “A” pillar (MARKED IN SAFTEY ORANGE OR YELLOW). Or in a place easily reached by safety crew. If fuel tanks in front of axle you can leave it stock.
Fuel - No Turbo Blue or Racing Fuel of any kind
(the track does now have a tool to check)

4. Roll Bars – 4 point race car type roll bars 1 3/4" tubing, is mandatory, and must be installed with 3 door bars. a 1/8" plate welded on the door bars is also manditory

5. Numbers – REQUIRED! 20 inch high numbers in a contrasting color are required on both doors of the car; in addition a 24 inch high number is required on the roof (no spray paint or duct tape numbers). Absolutely no duplicate numbers. The person who had the number first gets to keep it. Board decision is final.
6. 5 point belts - REQUIRED! Aftermarket 5-point seat belts required, can be bought at Coleman Racing Products for about $80. Phone number 1-800-221-1851.(no go kart straps) Mounted securely. Inspector will decide if needs to be moved.
7. All glass must be removed with the exception of windshield, Lexan windows are allowed on cars with an "approved" Full Roll Cage .LEXAN ONLY NO PLEXIGLASS
8. Full coverage clothing from wrists and ankle to neck. Fire suits are recommended, although leather gloves or racing gloves are mandatory. Leather boots or racing shoes only.
9. Helmets. A safe helmet minimum 2000 DOT approval, suggested SNELL approval.
10. Fire extinguishers. Each vehicle must be equipped with a changed 2 pound minimum BC rated steel fire extinguisher with gauge, mounted in a quick release bracket within reach of the driver.

11. Eye protection MANDATORY.
12. Window nets are mandatory and must use a quick release mechanism. (no rope, zip ties, ratchet straps, ect.) Condition of net to be decided on by inspector.

b. ALLOWED 1. Fenders may be trimmed (if not excessive) to remove rust.
2. You must add a 1/8th inch steel protector plate to the driver’s door.
3. Outside rub rails permitted as long as they are securely fastened and tapered at each end. The size is determined by inspector’s discretion.
4. Stock appearing bumpers required. Bumpers may be welded in place. Bumper ends may be capped and have supplemental attachments to the fenders which prevents the hooking of bumpers.
5. Approved aftermarket muffler numbers: NAPA 17713 or 17714, Dynomax or Walker 17731 or 17732.
6. Removal of Catalytic converter allowed. MUST HAVE MUFFLER
7. Shrinking and Cutting of springs allowed
8. 1x1 hoop bolted on top of front bumper to protect radiator (bolted on ONLY! and can only be 1x1) if not it will have to be removed before car competes.
9. Loss of muffler will be grounds for black flag. Decibel limit 85.

6. Will attempt to qualify on most nights during 2010 season, if qualifying is not held the feature lineups will be lined up by current point standings. THIS IS DECISION OF RACE DIRECTOR.

7. Stock tires and wheels only.

a. Same size tires all the way around.
b. Right Front Tire may have 1/2 inch of negative camber, LF,RR,LR must remain in stock position, You will be checked before qualifying. If camber is not correct when car is presented for qualifying you will start in back of slowest feature. INSPECTORS DECISION IS FINAL
c. Tire Size: 70 or 75 series allowed for 13" and 14" rims ( NO 15" TIRES OR RIMS), NO RACING TIRES (High Performance) or RACING RIMS AT ALL
d. No aluminum wheels on All cars.
8. Windshield wipers recommended.
9. No Added weight of any kind (lead, cement ect...).
10. Emergency brakes must be disconnected.
11. NO SPRING RUBBERS.
12. NO K&N Cloth Style air filters.
13. Rear Brake Light is mandatory.
14. Engine must match VIN number of car, you can not run an engine that did not come in that year of car for that make/model.

* If you fail to meet these specifications, you will be allowed to race but will NOT be scored. Please note if you do not comply with the above listed rules you MAY be granted a one(1) week grace period at desecration of the class inspector, after that point if you return with the same infraction(s) you MAY be allowed to race but it will be in the back of the slowest race, and you will not be granted points for that night or allowed to advance if you win.

Important: only the items listed may be allowed. This means every item must remain as delivered from the manufacturer on items of limited production. The baseline model shall be used to determine legality.
