Slammer Rules 2010

Slammers must be at the track by the beginning of the first race of the night.

A. Car

1. American full frame cars. 114 inch minimum wheel base. Four - door post cars highly recommended. Examples: Chevy Impala, Pontiac Catalina, Ford Ltd, ect.

B. Body

1. 16 inch numbers of highly visible, legible, contrasting, color must be placed on each side and roof. Number must also appear on the rear of the car above the bumper.

2. Rear sea must be removed.

3. Rear bulkhead must be covered with metal to seal the trunk area from the interior of the car.

4. No trimming or removing of any interior or exterior body parts, nothing is to be taken off without official OK. Interior upholstery and plastic trim must be removed.

5. Seats must remain in stock for make, model, and year of the car. Aluminum racing seats optional. Front seats must be mounted securely to the floor. Rusted floors must be repaired to do this.

6. All doors must have the glass removed and be chained, bolted or welded shut. Windshield must remain intact, all broken glass must be vacuumed out completely.

7. Remove all other side and rear glass, including headlights and taillights.

8. Front and rear bumpers mandatory. Absolutely no reinforcing of frame bumpers.

9. Bumpers must be chained, each corner to frame 5/16 minimum. Must have slack in chain.

C. Chassis

1. Roll cage

A. A six point roll cage with 3 door bars on driver’s door mandatory.

B. All pipe must be 1 ¾ inch O.D. minimum with 1/8 inch wall minimum. Backup plates must be minimum of 2 inch x 2 inch with 4 inch x 4 inch x 3/16 inch plates upper. Locate cage directly behind the front seat with the four points mounted directly over the frame. Bolt to the floor or frame with 3/8 inch grade 5 bolts. 4 bolts on each points. If mount is not through frame you must have plating under the floor to prevent your bolts from pulling through the sheet medal frame.

C. Radiator protection, if desired, will consist of one horizontal pipe of not more than one inch in diameter and one brace on either side of radiator to the frame of the same diameter. No plating allowed. This must be positioned behind the front bumper.

Rear bracing to support and protect fuel tank.

2. Suspension

A. Must remain totally stock for make, model, and year of car. Slight modifications will be allowed at the boards discretion. No interchange between models of the same manufacturer.

B. No suspension or steering part can be modified in any way or form from the factory design, location of instillation for that make, model, and year.

C. No racing parts allowed, new or used, no spring jacks, original equipment shocks only.

D. Car height from left to right and front to rear must be within 2 inches. Height must be close to stock for make, model, and year of car.

3. Brakes

A. All cars must have 4 wheel stock brakes in good stock working order.

4. Exhaust

A. No pipes will extend out the right side of the car.

B. Mufflers mandatory, stock or turbo type, no straight through. Outlet diameter shall not exceed 2 ¼ inch O.D.

5. Tires and Wheels

A. All tires must be either 70's 75's or 78's only, all 14 or 15 inch no mixing of sizes.

B. Radial tires allowed.

C. No new tires or shaved tires allowed.

D. No 50, 60, series tires or any type of high performance or racing tires allowed. No tire softener allowed.

E. 7 inch max stock type steel wheels required. (Four styles of rims, solid, Monte Carlo, Pontiac, Chevy) Right side reinforcement ¼ inch plate spacer.

F. Maximum 7 inch racing wheels (with factory reinforced centers) will be allowed. 4 inch offset only, right sides only.

G. All Accesories must have a stock part number or be a stock part (water pump, distributor, CARB! ect.)

6. Fuel tank and fuel

A. Stock fuel tank must be removed and a marine tank enclosed in steel box, 1/8 inch minimum thickness, mounted with 1 inch steel strapping, one strap in each direction. It must be bolted to the trunk in the center and as close to the front of the trunk as possible. Six gallon max fuel capacity. Fuel tank must be vented to upper rear cowling. Mandatory!!

B. Tank vent and filler neck must be on the left side of the car.

D. Drive train

1. Engine

A. Must remain factory stock for make of car. This includes all parts from the flywheel to the fan.

B. All parts factory installed are OK. No dealer installed options are legal.

C. Engine must remain in stock location for car with stock mounting.

D. Block off all hoses that go from the engine compartment to the inside of the car. Heater, ect. Absolutely no antifreeze may be used for coolant.

E. Any 2 barrel carb that was factory installed on that exact engine for that model make and year with matching manifold is acceptable. Exception - if a 2 barrel is not available for that car, use a 2 barrel with an adapter for 4 barrel manifold with inspectors approval. Absolutely no modification of any kind.

F. Stock type snorkel air cleaner - no cold air induction.

G. No high performance ignition parts of any kind. Must remain stock that year and model. If car came with 3 types of ignition, all are legal.

H. Hydraulic Cams ONLY!!

2. Transmission and differential

A. Only stock automatic or manual transmission will be allowed in any car, no modification of any kind allowed.

B. Transmission must have reverse and all forward gears.

C. Automatic transmission must have stock torque converter, no shift kits allowed.

D. No after market clutches such as button, multidisc, or other small clutches. No aluminum flywheels. Provision must be made for clutch inspection, such as bell housing inspection hole.

E. No locked rear axles, no welded rear axles. Posi-track is OK if not modified.

F. Drive shaft must be painted white with a safety loop under the front ¼ inch of the shaft.

G. No 4-wheel drive permitted.

E. Electrical

1. Battery location may be inside of car, if so it must be inside a marine case or other approved case.

2. Must be equipped with starter and alternator. Must be self starting throughout each event.

F. Safety

1. Driver apparel

A. An 85SA Snell approved helmet is mandatory with eye protection. Visor or goggles.

B. A fire suit is mandatory. A minimum of SF1-1 rated racing suit is mandatory.

C. Gloves mandatory.

2. Car

A. A 2 pound or larger fire extinguisher with full charge must be mounted in the front seat within easy reach of the driver, and equipped with a quick release latch.

B. Four point seat belts required, 2 inch shoulder straps, 2 inch lap belt mandatory and must be securely fastened. 1-2 inch lap belt and 2 - 2 inch shoulder belts are required. All must be mounted to the frame or good solid floor backed up with a minimum of 3 inch diameter 1/8 inch washers under the floor. Subject to safety inspection before each race.

C. Pad all hard objects in drivers compartments, remove all sharp objects, pad center of steering wheel.

D. No racing fuels or additives, no nitrous oxide. Regular automotive gasoline.

G. Race procedure

1. The exact nights that Norway Slammers will race shall be decided by the executive board.

2. The number of laps raced will be at the discretion of the board.

3. Drivers will draw numbers to determine their starting position, first night of racing. Following nights lineup will be according to points. (most points to the rear of the race) Exception: new driver will start at the rear the first two night of racing. Non-members do not accumulate points and will start at the rear behind all members.

4. Race will be yellow or red flagged for safety reasons or if the track is blocked.

5. Last weeks winner will go to the back of this weeks race.

6. If two heats - cars will line up by points, even positions in one race and odd positions in the other.

H. Cost and prizes

1. One feature winner trophy will be awarded each night that these cars complete a race, to the first car to cross the finish line under the checkered flag.

2. No pay will be given to any Norway Slammer driver.

3. Champion points will be awarded to DCRA member drivers each night in order to crown a Norway Slammer track champion.

I. GENERAL RULES
1. ALL RULES WILL BE CHECKED AND ENFORCED AS WRITTEN!!!!!
2. EACH DRIVER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR KNOWING THESE RULES AND ALSO THE TRACK POLICY.

J. All cars are subject to inspection by track officials at any time whether safe or unsafe to compete. DCRA officials will make final decision whether legal or illegal. If a driver/owner refuses inspection tear down, the car and driver will lose all points and pay for that race.

K. Any illegal parts will be confiscated and not given back.

L. There will be no consuming of alcoholic beverages until your car has passed post inspection. Driver / crew / co-owner will lose all points and pay for that event.
